Individual and Group Therapist

Beth McMurray

Beth has a master’s degree in clinical psychology and art therapy from Phillips Graduate Institute.  She is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and consultant/supervisor. Her eating disorder training was done under the mentorship and supervision of Carolyn Costin, founder of Monte Nido and a pioneer in the field.  Beth is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT).

With 22+ years of experience in the field of eating disorders, Beth operates under the philosophy of “Truth without judgement.” She has a humanistic approach and is well-versed in DBT, CBT, and in values-strengths based therapy. As a therapist with lived experience, she feels passionate about her work with clients, having a deep understanding and respect for the body/mind/soul connection. She invites playfulness and offers her Goldendoodle, Barry, as a therapeutic companion during some sessions. Barry is a good listener. She has worked extensively with the families and loved ones of those with eating disorders.

Beth has worked in the residential, PHP, and IOP levels of care at Monte Nido and other treatment centers.  Prior to her career in psychology, she was a working actress in New York City from 1974-1987.  From 1987 to 1999, she had the privilege of raising her daughters as a stay-at-home mom.
